Stephen Wynne
Artistic Director/ Choreographer
Stephen Wynne, a native of Philadelphia, PA, completed his dance training in New York City as a two-year scholarship student at American Ballet Theater. Stephen’s first professional engagement was with Joffrey Ballet.
Relocating to Europe, Mr. Wynne was employed as a professional dancer with Scapino Ballet in Amsterdam, CH Tanz Theater in Zurich, and Tanz-Forum, the resident dance company at the Metropolitan Opera House in Cologne, Germany. After nearly two decades in Europe, he was awarded by the German Cultural Department for his outstanding choreographic achievement.
After Stephen’s performance career, he served as Artistic Director with At Marah Dance Theatre in Philadelphia, Associate Professor of Dance at Belhaven University, a commissioned choreographer for a 4-year project with the Kölner Philharmonie, The University of the Arts in Cologne, and Acht Bruecken Festival in Germany. Further, Wynne served as the Artistic Director of TALK Dance Co and as a Dance Tour Consultant for SouthArts in Atlanta, Georgia. Stephen then served as Artistic Director at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, Adjunct Professor at Colorado State University, and Creative Arts Director with Global Ed Solution’s charter schools- dba, Arts Immersion, in Denver, CO.
More recently, Wynne was announced as one of ten finalists in the renowned European “YEAH” Creative Competition, and served as President of the Colorado affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization. Most recently, Stephen was awarded a prestigious roster position as a Fulbright Specialist with the US State Department and World Learning in Washington, DC as a choreographer, dance educator, and cultural consultant. Stephen is delighted to serve as artistic director of NWA Ballet Theatre since October 2022.
Britta Heermann-Wynne
Associate Artistic Director/ Company Wellness Director
Britta was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. She studied classical ballet and modern dance under the direction of Constanze Vernon at the University of Fine Arts and Music in Munich, under Rosella Highthower at the Centre de Danse Internationale in Cannes, France, under John Neumeier at The Hamburg Ballet School in Hamburg and with Ruth Currier in New York, NY. She danced professionally for eleven years in Germany with the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, Freiburger Tanztheater in Freiburg, Breisgau, and with Tanzforum at the Metropolitan Opera in Cologne, performing many solo roles. During these years she toured extensively throughout Europe and Southeast Asia.
After she relocated to the United States with her husband and daughter, Stephen and Scarlett Wynne, she danced, co-directed, and taught for At Marah Dance Theatre while at the same time performing with Jeanne Ruddy Dance, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Britta accepted a position as Specialty Instructor at Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, where for seven years she taught classical and modern dance, and professionally monitored students for graduation and beyond.
Britta was accepted as a student and started a four-year degree program in Feldenkrais at the Houston, TX campus and graduated as a Guild Certified PractitionerCM in 2013. Apart from operating her private practice, she supported Stephen Wynne with teaching and artistic leadership at the Sange de Cristo Art Center in Pueblo, CO, Arts Immersion Charter School in Denver, CO, and Dance Arts Los Alamos, NM.
She is excited to find her new home in beautiful Northwest Arkansas and enjoys training the NWA Ballet Theatre dancers and engaging her talents within the rehearsal process alongside her husband as a creative associate.
Brooke Bailey
Development and Donor Engagement
A native of Paragould, AR, Brooke began her dance training with (the now dissolved) Eastern Arkansas Ballet. Through the EAB, Brooke received numerous competitive awards and trained with the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive as the youngest dancer accepted into the program. Later, Brooke continued her dance career with Christie McNeil’s Dance Studio out of Jonesboro, AR focusing on jazz and contemporary styles.
Brooke attended the University of Arkansas where she was a four-year member of the Razorback Pom Squad while earning a Master's degree in Education. Brooke spent nearly two decades serving the Razorback Athletic Department, first as Pom Squad Coach and later transitioning to the role of Director of Spirit Programs, which supported all Athletic endeavors, community & donor engagement, and alumni efforts.
Simultaneous to her time at the University of Arkansas, Brooke was a member of the Universal Dance Association staff and later served as an annual judge for their national competition.
Brooke resides in Fayetteville with her husband, Reece, and children Grace and Baker. She is thrilled to share NWA Ballet Theatre with the community of Northwest Arkansas.
Along with supporting NWA Ballet Theatre, Brooke is an Account Executive for CitiScapes Magazine.
